Danish Translator – Anny Petersen

Anny Petersen was born and lives in Denmark. She was initiated in Reiki in 1987, and became a Master in 1990. Beside Denmark, she has also taught in Greenland and Nepal. As a child she studied English at school without success, until as a young Master she attended several conferences as the only Dane, and finally succeeded in learning English. Anny has held several volunteer positions in The Reiki Alliance and at one point made a transcript of Phyllis Furumoto’s Mission Statements and translated it into Danish. Anny invited several Reiki Masters from abroad to do workshops in Denmark, including Phyllis Lei Furumoto and Johannes Reindl. She is enthusiastic to have envisioned and contributed the translation of The Grey Book into Danish.

Danish Translator – Myanne Luxn

Myanne Luxn is from Denmark and was initiated to Reiki in 2005. Ten years and two children later, she was initiated a Master in August 2015. Since that day, being a Reiki Master has been a full-time job for her. Before Reiki, Myanne worked as a journalist. She is a published author and has a degree in folklore from the University of Copenhagen.  Her free time is spent in the Nature. Myanne has translated for Johannes Reindl on his visits to Denmark, and she is very grateful for the opportunity to work with The Grey Book and for the immersion in the lineage that occurred with it.


Dutch Translator – Elina van der Heijden

Elina van der Heijden has practised Reiki since 1987. She has served as a translator and interpreter for the Office of the Grandmaster, The Reiki Alliance, and others. She was an editor for the Dutch Reiki Magazine and worked on the Dutch edition of In Her Own Voice, A Tribute to Phyllis Lei Furumoto. Elina is a professional translator of Swedish to Dutch.

English Translator – Dylan Luers Toda

Dylan Luers Toda translated the Therapy Guide portion of the original Grey Book from Japanese to English. He is a Japanese to English academic translator, specializing in the fields of Japanese religion, history, and philosophy. He earned a M.A. (Buddhist Studies) from Otani University in Kyoto, Japan and a B.A. (East Asian Studies; Religious Studies minor) from Oberlin College. His Japanese to English translations can be found in many respected academic publications, including International Inoue Enryo ResearchJapanese Journal of Religious Studies, The Eastern Buddhist, Journal of International Philosophy, Journal of Religion in Japan, and Japanese Studies. French Translator – Raymonde Menga-Demai

Raymonde is French. She was initiated to Reiki in 1994 and became a Reiki Master in 2010. As a Life Coach and certified Chopra Center meditation teacher, she defines herself as a citizen of the world, and is willing to share the knowledge to discover one’s inner peace. She has served as an interpreter during the The Reiki Alliance (TRA) conference in 2019 and as translator for TRA Newsletters. She’s also a Board member of Reiki Home.


German Translator – Erika Breiter

Erika Breiter has been a Reiki student since the 80s. She has a degree in translation and has served as a translator and interpreter for a variety of Reiki events over the past 30 years. For her Master Initiation in 1988, she received the Grey Book from her Master Phyllis Lei Furumoto, with the request that she keep this testimony of her grandmother Hawayo Takata confidential and precious. It took some time before Erika could let go of this protection and opened herself to the idea of a virtual distribution on the website. However, translating this testimony proved to become a real gift for her deepening and understanding of the Spiritual Lineage of Usui Shiki Ryoho.


Italian Translator – Lida Perry

Lida Perry was born in Italy and moved to the USA in the 60s. She went back to Italy in the 80s where she was introduced to Reiki in 1989. She became a Master in 1993. For more than 30 year she taught Reiki and had a practice as a psychologist in Milan. Recently she has returned to the USA and lives in Massachusetts. While living in New England, she taught herself quilting. It has become her favored hobby and meditation practice. She has served as an interpreter for many of The Reiki Alliance conferences, and translates for the TRA Newsletter, Just for Today.

Italian Translator – Paola Peloso

Paola was an artistic book binder and restorer, an art she learned by working for free in an important restoration workshop inside the Benedictine Abbey of Saint Giustina in Padova. After almost two years of apprenticeship, she opened her own workshop/atelier in Vicenza, her hometown, which she managed for about 14 years. She encountered Reiki in 1993 and this was a turning point in her life. Within two years, after meeting her initiating Master, who contacted her and came from Canada in a magical way, she decided to follow this path, being initiated as a Master in 1995. She slowly began letting go of her previous vocation. Since that time, she teaches Reiki classes and offers individual treatments, “being” with Reiki all the time and letting Reiki teach her. She has been a member of The Reiki Alliance since 1996 and serves as a translator, a link for the Support Line, and is responsible for mail orders.


Polish Translator – Agnieszka Szuniewicz

Agnieszka Szuniewicz lives in Poland. She has been on the spiritual path since 2002. She is a certified yoga and vedic meditation teacher as well as Reiki practitioner initiated as a Master in the Usui System. She is a translator, coach, and last but not least, a keen traveler, always ready to spend time in nature. She feels grateful and privileged to be able to join the Grey Book translation project.

Polish Translator – Anna Wrigley

Anna Wrigley was born and lives in Poland. She has been practicing Reiki since 2000, and was initiated as a Reiki Master in 2006. For many years she served the Reiki community as an interpreter at Reiki Alliance conferences. Her life is largely devoted to Reiki. She is very happy to participate in translating Reiki: The Grey Book into the Polish language.


Portuguese Translator – Helena Hungria

Helena Hungria, Brazilian, is a professional translator and interpreter (English/Portuguese/English) since early 1980 and has been translating for Phyllis Furumoto and Paul Mitchell since the mid-1990s, after taking her First Degree in Reiki, and continues to do so now for Johannes Reindl and other teachers.


Russian Translator – Nur Stepanova

Nur has practiced Reiki since 1992, and has taught Reiki for 27 years. She is a coach and facilitator, and she has served as a translator since 1993. Nur has been an interpreter for many conferences of The Reiki Alliance (TRA), and many Usui-1 and Usui-2 intensives. She has translated for Paul Mitchell and Phyllis Furumoto at different workshops and meetings. She also translated the book In Her Own Voice. Nur has translated the TRA Newsletter for many years, and now she’s a member of TRA’s Board.

Spanish Translator – Laurence Fontaine


Laurence began practicing Reiki in 1990 and has been a Reiki Master since 2000. She is trilingual and has served as a translator and interpreter for The Reiki Alliance, the Office of the Grandmaster, and international Reiki gatherings since the year 1990. She is a psychotherapist with a Masters in Psychology, with specialties in Continuum Movement, Core Energetics, and Family Constellations. At present her focus is fostering dynamics that sustain the development of individuals, families, and communities.


Ukrainian Translator – Lina Sasina


Lina Sasina was born and lives in Ukraine. She was initiated into Reiki in 2020 so she could be closer to her daughter who is a Reiki Master and lives abroad. Reiki has changed a lot in her life and outlook and brought her to the events and experiences she never thought she would have. One of them has been the “Grey Book” translation project, where she served as a proof-reader of the Ukrainian translation. Lina feels very grateful and privileged to be connected with this important moment in the history of Reiki.


Ukrainian Translator – Yuliya Sasina-Yates


Yuliya Sasina-Yates was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and, as a qualified interpreter, has always wanted to work in her mother tongue. She lives in the Isle of Man and is a native speaker of Ukrainian and Russian. She also speaks English and German. For Yuliya, translating film subtitles, books, articles and interpreting in all kinds of life situations, is a way to help people be heard and understood, uncovering the lightness and joy of interconnectedness.
